Brief Answer:
To reduce the dependency on the medicine.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Adderall is a medicine which is gradually tapered off. Drug holidays are given wherein the patient does not take the medicine in the weekend. Such measures help in reducing the dependency on the drug and helps the patient better manage the situation on his own. In your case, reducing the dose of the medicine thus makes sense. In the long duration that you have been on the medicine, your condition is likely to have improved and you should be able to do well even on a lesser dose. That is likely to be the reason that your doctor reduced the dose from 30 mg to 20 mg.

Let me know if I could be of further assistance.
