Question : i was giving insulin sub cut to a patient there was no blood when i withdrew needle but i acccidently stabbed myself on my finger is it possible to get an infection from insulin syringe and sub cut injection with no visible blood

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

It is possible to get an infection from this but the chances are low as subcutaneous injections get very little blood and the size of the needle is very small as well. If you are at a job site where accidental exposure to blood needs to be reported, I will suggest you do so and follow the guideline. The risk is minimal and in my context, unless there are real red flags, I will not put you on any post exposure prophylaxis.
