Question: Is it possible to have endometriosis at the age of 70. I have had it all my life since I was 19 and also I know that I have an ovarian cyst which I have been nervous of having Looked at for too many years. I have an upset stomach all the time - once a day and I have recently lost 2and a half stone. I have had an endoscopy recently which was OK and I wonder if endometriosis could still be growing and pressing on my bowel?

Brief Answer: POSSIBLE, BUT RARE. Detailed Answer: Hello XXXXXXX Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. Endometriosis is hormone - mediated, it is quite rare to have it after menopause. Rare, but not impossible. 2 - 4 % cases do occur in post menopausal women. I am attaching two links here, please go through them - http://www.jmedicalcasereports.com/content/3/1/135 http://www.health.am/gyneco/more/endometriosis-seen-in-many-postmenopausal-women/ Since your endoscopy was normal, you would do well to have a gynaecological checkup. A pelvic sonogram and MRI also should be done. All the best Please feel free to discuss further.
