I have gone through your query and understand your concern. The common surgery done in polio limb are-
1.To make the limb straight in case of severe muscle shortening ( muscle contracture) to be followed by calipers. This helps in walking with support in a standing position.
2.The other is transfer of tendon (muscle) to compensate for the lost function. This surgery may or may not be followed by caliper support.
Keeping in mind the above points , it needs physical examination for surgical evaluation.
Hope this helps in decision making.
Take care
