Liver Abscess Removed By Surgery. Having Digestion Problem. What Is Causing This?
Thank you for the query.
Liver abscess does not appear without a reason. Most likely it is caused by inflammation of the bile ducts, veins or abdominal cavity which affect liver. Every inflammation lefts scar tissue. If the infection were from intestines or other part of abdominal cavity, for sure it has created adhesions. Such adhesions can impede proper intestines passage and can be a reason of digestion problems. Moreover, as liver is in close relations to the pancreas, severe pancreas inflammation can be a reason of indigestion.
A part of abscess treatment is antibiotics therapy. Every antibiotics therapy can affect intestines and also give such symptoms.
Most of this diseases are benign however needs to be ruled out. I suggest you to visit gastroenterologist and have abdominal ultrasound, abdominal X-ray, blood work, liver tests, amylase, lipase, bilirubin checked. If no findings, abdominal CT with oral contrast might be necessary to visualize intestines.
If no findings, you may also try Rifaximine treatment along with probiotics. It usually eradicate pathological bacterias and lefts the good once.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
