Pain In Calf Muscles Following Fever. Is This Normal?
Question: My daughter is having pain in her calves after a fever, is this a sign of anything?
Hi,
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
After a episode of fever it is common to have pain in calf muscles and body aches and pain.
This could be because of dehydration or electrolyte imbalance during the episode of fever or because of depleted nutrition during the episode.
Adequate rest, improvement of nutrition may help. Gentle oil massage may be of use. Paracetamol may help to relieve the pain.
If the pain is worsening or if the child cannot stand or sit or impairing the movement of the limb or develops problems like red colored urine then you may have to consult your doctor.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
