Pinworms, Excessive Thirst, Itching, Irritability, Vaginal Irritation
Question: Can having pinworms cause excessive thirst??? I just found out that my daughter likely has pinworms, and I have found out they are very contagious. I have been experiencing dehydration for sometime, and am wondering if may have them too?

Hello,
Pinworms is a parasitic intestinal infection
the major symptoms associated with this infection include : -
1. Difficulty sleeping due to the itching that occurs during the night
2. Intense itching around the anus
3. Irritability due to itching and interrupted sleep
4. Irritated or infected skin around the anus, from constant scratching
5. Irritation or discomfort of the vagina in young girls (if an adult worm enters the vagina rather than the anus)
6. Loss of appetite and weight (uncommon, but can occur in severe infections)
But dehydration and excessive thirst are not associated with this condition.
You might benefit by consulting a doctor to rule out medical conditions like diabetes, etc.
I hope this helps.
