Normal finding, no need to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXX,
Thanks for your query.
I have gone through the case history as well as investigation report as attached to your post.
Before answering your query, let me explain you about the terms used in the report.
1. Anisopoikilocytosis means red blood cells of different shapes and sizes
(Aniso- means unequal size and poikilo- means variation in size of red blood cells)
2. Ovalocytes are oval shaped RBCs & are present in few individuals as hereditary trait in the blood.
3. Macrocytes means large red blood cells.
4. Normocyte means normal shaped RBCs.
5. Normochromic means normal color of the RBCs, which indicates that the Hemoglobin concentration of the RBCs are normal.
So, your blood smear report indicates that most of the Red Blood Cells (RBCs) are normal in shape & size with a normal concentration of Hemoglobin.
This finding is further substantiated by the normal values of Hemoglobin concentration (14.6 g/dl), MCV, MCH & MCHC.
There are mild variations present in the form of oval shaped & large RBCs and platelet count is mildly reduced.
In the absence of any clinical symptoms like spontaneous/easy bruising or bleeding tendencies, these finding are not of any importance.
So, basically the findings are normal.
There is no need to worry about it.
Wishing you a Healthy life.
If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
