Should I Be Concerned About Extra Tissue On Tonsil In Children?
Question: My 6 year old son had a routine dentist appt today and she noted "extra tissue/?polyp" on tonsil--she stated nothing to worry about (she recommended f/u in 6 months), but we are scheduling an ENT appt. No other associated symptoms--sore throat, weight loss, or snoring. Any concerns?
Brief Answer:
nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,
Tonsil is not regular and smooth in small children.
Its surface is rough and can be very irregular, there can be pits, bumps and the surface can be nodular since the tonsil is very active in small children.
There is nothing to worry about.
If you are still concrened then please send a photograph with the follow up query.

Here is the phoyo of the left tonsil.
Brief Answer:
not claer picture
Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
The picture is not clear.
If you are refering to the whitish polypoidal mass on the tonsil then it is nothing to worry about, it is part of the tonsil itself.
A better picture would have made things clearer.

Dr Rajkishori.
