Squamous Cells Urine. What Is The Level Of WBC And Protein To Be Considered.
Thanks for posting your query.
Squamous cells in the urine are a few desquamated (sloughed or washed out) cells in urine. They do not mean anything except a cleaning process which is taking place in the urinary tract. This is a routine and natural phenomenon in all tracts including gastrointestinal tract and even skin daily. Sometimes such cells are seen in those on diuretics (a group of drugs which increase the urine output like lasix).
Urine pus cells more than 10 are important; but if there are other significant Red Blood Cells and protein even more than 3-5 are important.
Protein level of more than 400- 500 mg per day is significant. Every value or report should be evaluated in the presence of other disease and other report rather a single value alone. There will be a lot of misinterpretation if you do not take all clinical conditions in to consideration.
Hope this answers your query. Should you have any more concerns, I will be available to assist you.
