Some times the temperature of active children can be around 99 F. If the child is other wise normal and feeding normally nothing much needs to be done. Paracetamol need not be given just because the temperature is 99 F. If the temperature rises further then we prescribe Paracetamol. Paracetamol only causes symptomatic relief from fever and nothing else. So the basic cause of fever if it occurs should be identified and treated. Paracetamol (Crocin) need not be given as a precautionary measure. When we give Paracetamol to our patients we give it at a dose of 15mg per kg body weight. The dose can be repeated every 4 hourly.
