Suggest Diet And Exercise For Diabetes Treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Good day.
You have been diagnosed to have diabetes and most likely type 2 diabetes. How old are you and what's your height and weight. This is very important.
The triglycerides are just above normal and it should normalise once blood sugars are in control. Given that your Hb is only 10 g the HbAIC is not all that reliable and is likely to be more than the value shown.when you have low Hb the A1c tend to go down spuriously.
Start with simple exercise like brisk walking of 30 to 45 minutes a day. Once you have lost 1 or 2 kilos in weight you could increase the pace of exercise and may start jogging as well. Besides weekly once or twice you need weight bearing exercise to build up muscles. Muscles are the main consumers of glucose.
Try to avoid simple sugars and processed foods as much as possible. Eat complex carbohydrates like brown bread and boiled potato. Include salads and vegetables in diet. Avoid excess oil and butter and use fat in moderation. Look at the picture of a healthy food pyramid in Google and try to stick on to that. You may also require to lose weight. Try to meet a dietician with special interest in diabetes.
good luck XXXXXXX

Hello,
Yes, i agree that you are quite over weight. Hb of 10.9 is low in someone like you. When Hb is only that much your A1c tend to show a lower value rater than the actual value. This problem is more seen in conditions associated with hemolysis and ofcourse, thalassemia and thalassemia trait make the Hba1c not so reliable. This is one of the limitation of AIc. In yur case the actual Hba1c may be 9.5 or 10. I hope you understood it now.
However, it is not all that bad.
Please dont panic. You have just been diagnosed with diabetes and you are young. At your age, i too was diagnosed with prediabetes and with weight loss , exercise and healthy eating, i am able to control it very well now. Being an endocrinologist, i see many of patents of your age who successfully adopt a healthy life style after they are diagnosed with diabetes and stay very healthy. Stop smoking ( if you smoke) and limit alcohol intake to just one drink a day. Avoid weekend binging.
Most important is to lose weight. Aim for a weight loss of 10% of your current weight to begin with. Aim for losing half kilo of weight a week.
