Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.

She should avoid the following -
1. Coffee
2. Citrus
3. Chocolates
4. Fatty/oily food
5. Mint, onion and garlic
6. Tomatoes
7. Wheat, barley and rye
All the spices should be avoided to get good relief from GERD.
She should avoid eating full stomach and eat multiple frequent smaller meals.
She should avoid bedtime snacks and go to bed at least 2-3 hours after food.
I hope that answers your question.

Thank you Dr. You said she should avoid all spices.
What can she use to season her food safely?
Also, she can't eat fat or fiber. That cuts out many meats and fruits/vegetables.
Specifically, what meats can she still eat?
and what fruits and vegetables can she eat, and do they need to be prepared a certain way?
I'd like a detailed list of foods she CAN and CANNOT eat please.
Thank you.

Certainly.
1. Symptoms: stomach pain, acidic burning feelings. she described one "attack" like this - "Acid rushed into my throat and nasal cavity. I knew if I took a breath, I'd aspirate. But by the time my husband called 911, it just went away."
2. She is not diabetic, although she is overweight.
3. Her diagnoses were the results of testing by her GI dr at the Diagnostic Clinic. The Dr told her if she wasn't able to maintain a healthy safe diet, she would need a feeding tube.
I am a Registered Dietitian and am trying to help her make her diet safe, but also palatable.
Thanks.
