Is there a reason you want to be in a state of ketosis? Perhaps there are alternatives to the underlying purpose for why you want to be ketotic.

In a classic ketogenic diet, the meals typically have four parts: a protein-rich food (fish, poultry, meat, beans), heavy cream, a fruit or vegetable and a fat such as butter or oil. Only low-carbohydrate fruits and vegetables are allowed, which means no bananas, potatoes, peas and corn. Low carb fruits are divided into two groups based on the amount of carbohydrate they contain, and vegetables are similarly divided into two groups. Foods within each of these four groups can be substituted to allow for variation without needing to recalculate portion sizes. A computer program such as a Ketocalculator can be used to help with recipes.

The classic ketogenic diet is not a balanced diet and deficiencies can develop. For example, the B vitamins, calcium and vitamin D must be supplemented.
