Brief Answer:
see a doctor if symptoms do not resolve soon

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Aspiration like this may cause local irritation to the trachea, bronchitis or even pneumonia.
If it is just a local irritation it should clear up in a few days.
Avoid further aspiration by eating small meals, taking the nexium 30 minutes before your largest meal of the day and not lying down within 4 hours of a meal. Also avoid alcohol and tobacco since both may make reflux worse.
If you are developing bronchitis you would have coughing and congestion but no fever.
If you are developing pneumonia you would get fever, shortness of breath and cough.
If you are wheezing or have a fever see a doctor right away. If cough and irritation lasts more than a few days then make an appointment to see your doctor
I hope you are better very soon,
Dr. Robinson
