You seem to have recurrent aphthous ulcers,for which the cause is not specific most of the times..Stress,anxiety seems to provoke or be the reason for recurrence.

Nutrient deficiency(zinc,B12,folate)also can be a reason.

For evaluating,it would be better if you do the following tests like CBC,ESR,Serum ferritin level,folate,B12 level..

I would recommend a week tapering course of oral steroids(empirical treatment)like prednisone 40 mg for first two days, 30 mg for next two days,20mg for 2 days and last day 10 mg under your treating doctor's supervision.Condition may be reassessed and treatment to be decided accordingly.

Also I suggest amlenox 5% paste for local application which help heal the ulcers fast.

There are different doses available like 2.5mg,5mg,10mg,20mg,40mg of oral prednisone

So you can buy 20mg prednisone tablets and take twice a day for first 2 days

Next 2 days ---one in morning and half tablet at night

Next 2 days --- half tablet in morning and half at night

Last day you can take half tablet...

Whichever the formulation,dose has to be tapered as I have mentioned..


PS : Get clearance from your family doctor before starting the therapy as serious side effects may occur.

Also you need to take Pantocid tablet 40 mg once or twice a day before food to prevent steroid induced gastritis..
