Suggest Remedies For Severe Acne On Face

Question: Doctor, a week before moving back to XXXXXXX I consumed prawns. I am mildly allergic to them and taking Allegra after that always suffices. However, this time the allergy seems to have come in full form and to add to the misery some insect bit me under my left eye, causing it to swell and look extremely wrinkly. The area under it has become very scaly and the whole face is very rough apart from the protrusions and dry feel. I started taking allegra again from Tuesday and took two yesterday and today instead of the regular one tablet in the evening and it seems to have calmed down the slightest bit but I require some further assistance please. I visited the dermatologist on Tuesday and I am not too happy with some of the medicines prescribed; especially number 3 because it is an antibiotic and it has been prescribed for 90 days. I'm sure the doctor knows better but I would really like a second opinion please. I've never had such awful skin and it is very frustraying to see it so scaly and dry!

Brief Answer:
Antibiotic in acne is usually given thrice weekly instead of daily

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I am Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, a dermatologist.
I have gone through your pictures as well the prescription.
You are having comedonal acne and medicines have been prescribed for the same.
The third medicine is an antibiotic and there are many regimes of giving it in acne.
The most commonly used regimen is tablet azithromycin 250 mg once daily for 3 consecutive days in a week for 2-3 months. Normally it is not given daily.
Tablet number 4 is fluconazole which is usually given in patients of acne having associated dandruff.
Rest of the medicines are fine.
Regards
Dr Asmeet

Hi Doctor
Thank you for your prompt reply :) since I had been finding it difficult to find the prescribed medicines I continued with allegra and the last one got over yesterday. The medicines will be here in a few days- but my skin has cleared up a considerable amount and it doesn't look half as bad as the photos now. I have no idea why but a stupid new rash has popped up on me cheeks..nothing very serious but red eruptions. It is distinctly visible though because the rest of my face cleared up almost completely over the weekend. Anything I can do till the medicines arrive? I used Dr. Reddy's Acrofy acne lotion foe sebum control in the morning, less than a pea sized amount in the morning, could it have caused the sudden reaction?

Brief Answer:
Avoid acrofy lotion, restart with capsule isotretinoin

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Any person can develop allergic reaction to any medicine.
Even acrofy lotion can cause development of red bumps.
You can restart with capsule isotretinoin 5 mg once daily till the rest of the medicines become available.
Also use cetaphil cleansing lotion and avoid acrofy lotion.
This should resolve your problem.
