Question: I have the right side in ingunial lymph node that is swollen approximately 3 centimeters I just started taking actonel and vitamin D it was a week later I noticed the swelling pain is intermittent off and on but not excruciating I do not have any fevers weight loss or any other signs ultrasound shows no hernia should I be concerned this is cancerous

Inguinal lymphadenopathy is usually related to an infectious cause including. The common causes include chancroid, lymphogranuloma venereum, granuloma inguinale. Non specific inflammation due to viral infections is also common. This usually subsides in 2 weeks time. NSAIDs can be advised if the swelling persists beyond a week. If the node enlarges or fails to regress after two weeks then extensive workup including an excisional biopsy to rule out the possiblity of malignancy.
