Suggest Remedy For Bubble Under Skin Of Labia Minora

default
Posted on Mon, 17 Nov 2014
Question: Hello,
post intercourse, I noticed a large pocket of air/bubble under the skin of my labia minora which is squishy and moveable. it is about 2in x 2in in diameter and feels very much like a small balloon under the skin.

I am 43, and in good shape, but I do smoke.

if I 'bear down', it does push the 'bubble' downward, thus causing the right labia minora and majora to protrude apx 2 in from normal.

Brief Answer:
Bartholin cyst. Need Incision & drainage.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

According to your information, it is MOSTLY suggestive of Bartholin cyst. It is located outside the vagina and near lower part of labia minora. It is typically one sided, painless and fluctuated. Sometimes, it is painful if it gets infected (Bartholin abscess).

Most Bartholin cysts do not cause any symptoms, although some may cause pain during walking, sitting or sexual intercourse. Your bartholin cyst is LARGE enough (2 x 2 inch) and it needs to be drained out by your doctor. Marsupialisation is the surgical procedure of choice for treating bartholin cyst. Don't leave it untreated.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion, if you don't have any other query.

Wish your good health and take care yourself. Maintain genital hygiene properly.

Regards,
Dr S Patra
