Suggest Remedy For Irritation On Bridge Of Nose
Question: Where the pads of my glasses touch my skin (both sides of my nose), the skin has become irrated and the texture has changed, just in those two spot. I also get intense pain and have to remove my glasses. It does not hurt when I don't wear my glasses but the skin is still irritated and strange looking.
Brief Answer:
Contact dermatits
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal
I have read your query
This sounds like contact dermatitis
Or pressure dermatitis.
I have the following suggestions-
1. Change your glasses. Use ones with no pads. There are glasses available whose rim is inbuilt with pads. so pressure will not be localized to the area only.
2. you can try anti allergy measures - but i Doubt that will help.
3. If feasible, try contact lenses for a few months. It will get rid of the pressure sores and thereafter you may resume your glasses.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible.
I hope that helps.
Best of luck.

Dr.Mittal, Thank you for your help. This sounds right to me. I can't wear contacts because of dry eye problems. I did not know you could get glasses without pads. I will look in to that. In the meantime maybe I could just go back to covering the area with little bandaides. It's a real pain because I have to trim even the smallest size round bandaides so they aren't as visible but at least it would provide a barrier between my skin and the pads. I am also planning to see a dermatologist soon for several other symptoms, so maybe I can get some answers there as well. Thank you again. I appreciate your help.

Brief Answer:
meet an optometrist
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Glad I could be of help.
It may be helpful to meet the optometrist and get new pads.
That may help.
Sometimes readjusting the wire to which the pads are attached may help too.
Again optometrist can help.
I hope that helps.
I am glad my prior information was useful.
Best of luck.
