Posted on Tue, 29 Dec 2015
Question: I woke up three nights ago with a bad leg itch. I didnt think anything of it until the next day when getting ready and then I noticed some scabs or bumps on my leg where I was itching. I just want to know if it is an insect bite? staph infection? or what should I do?

Brief Answer:
It is secondary bacterial infection due to scratching!

Thanks for consulting me at virtual clinic. Your trust in HCM means a lot to me as a Physician.
I have completely reviewed your health query, and can well realize all those concerns. Being your physician, I will take care all of them today and will give extend my expertise to solve the problems.

It may be an insect bite in the first place when you first scratched it. But then after scratching it has been secondarily infected by the bacteria and yes Staph aureus is notorious in such infection.

If I was your treating physician I would have prescribed you with Clindamycin if not allergic to Plus Triple antibiotic ointment to apply on the skin. It is still red due to inflammation and you need to take Ibuprofen for that.

Keep it clean as you are already doing with hydrogen peroxide. Don't rub too hard, Just wipe out.

Hope I answered all of your queries. Let me know if you have further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you with my expert opinion. Ok, I have been caring for the infection with triple anti biotic ointment. I woke up today with my left eye feeling mildly swollen and some pus coming from it. Could this be connected at all?

Brief Answer:
Not necessarily connected to the leg infection!!!

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow-up query. I appreciate your continued trust in HCM.

This eye infection doesn't seem to be connected to your previous leg issues.

It seems to be a bacterial infection of the eye and I can better assist you if you spare some time to upload well lit, good resolution pictures of both the eyes for my review.
Do you have issue with both the eye?
color of the eye---redness??
color of discharge???
irritation, itching in eye-s?

waiting for response. Have a blessed time ahead.

Regards!
