Question: I had routine blood work on September 5th. My alkaline phosphate came back at 134. All other liver functions were normal but I do have joint paint in my middle knuckles on most finers, small me tarsal on both feet and bone on left wrist. I am really worried.
Brief Answer:
some diagnostic tests are required
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXX.....
Thanks for writing in to healthcare magic.
The alkaline phosphatase levels that you are having are not much elevated and are frequently seen in cases of ulcerative colitis.
The pain in small joints of limbs is a feature of many diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, SLE and per se Ulcerative colitis may cause such problem.
You should get blood tests, RA factor, ANA, dsDNA, CRP, Hepatitis C serology and ESR.
You should also get evaluated by a local rheumatologist after investigations.
I hope the advise will be helpful for you.

Ok thank you. I already had RA factor and crp - both were negative. I do have an apt. with a Rheumatologist set up. My UC has been in remission for a long time and I just had my colonoscopy in XXXXXXX - all was really good. I had Hepatitis C test a long time ago and it was negative but unless it can come from nothing I don't know how I could have contracted as I don't fall under the risk category. Also just got other testing for thyroid functions which are not in yet.
Brief Answer:
no need for hepC
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back.
Hepatitis C can be a cause for such manifestations but does seem a possibility in your case due to no exposure risk.
Still get ANA, dsDNA and ESR tests to check for SLE.
A clinical assessment will provide more insight.
Let's see.
Take care.
