Bowels obstruction is possible with such symptoms.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
How do you know this is large intestine pain? Is it cramping pain? Where is it located? Do you pas gas and stool freely? Have you lost some weight recently? Do you have nausea, vomiting? Any changes in the stool pattern recently? Have you had any abdominal surgeries in the past?
I do have not much information about your symptoms, however I will try to answer what should be done.
At your age (over 50) such symptoms should be always checked with possible bowels obstruction due to colon cancer. Typical symptoms of such obstruction are cramping, bloated abdomen, gas obstruction, possible stool obstruction or diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. Passing gas through the mouth is also quite characteristic.
Before bowels obstruction symptoms of colon cancer could be present. This symptoms are: diarrhea and constipation alternately, weight loss, weakness, pale skin. Sometimes blood in stool can be visible. Please also note that bowels obstruction can be first noticeable symptom.
I suggest you to consult your doctor as soon as possible. Abdominal X-ray, abdominal ultrasound and blood work should be done. This tests are usually enough to rule out bowels obstruction.
Colonoscopy should be scheduled as well.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
