Suggest Remedy For Redness On The Skin Caused By Cystic Acne
Question: Hello Doctor, I am 25 years old. I used bentnovate N for around one year or more! Now its been one month since I am not using it and I have got cystic acne with heavy redness and swelling on it.. I am afraid that its because over usage of the cream. Pls suggest me its cure. My skin is thinner than before as well as mild redness over it!

Betnovate N cream is a steroid containing cream which is very easily available over the counter product. When used initially , it makes you feel as if your face is getting fairer and glowing but long term use leads to multiple side effects like acne flare, acneiform eruption, pigmentation of skin, thinning of skin, redness and sensitive skin.
I would advise you to discontinue the use of Betnovate N as early as possible. In future also avoid the application of such products of your own.
If I was your treating doctor, I would have advised you to start capsule Isotretinoin and short course of low dose oral steroids.
You should apply lots of moisturisers over full Face. For acne, I usually prefer to advise Clindamycin gel in the morning and Benzoyl peroxide in night time.
You may take antihistaminics like levocetrizine for symptomatic relief.
Visit your doctor so that he can examine you and give you prescription.
