Question: My husband had a bad fall at work, and landed on his coccyx a month ago. After an internal examation the gp did not seem very concerned, as nothing was broken. But was sent for an MRI. MRI shows fatty deposits have been pushed into his coccyx. He cannot sit for very long, and also needs to urinate very frequently, and urgently. He has sharp pains and also into his ankle. He says he has a tingling feeling. He cannot take morphine for pain as it makes him drowsy, at work. (no work no pay). Gp has now suggested a neurologist - please advise. I am concerned about his symptons, and not sure how urgent this matter is.Thank you.

Brief Answer:
may be having coccyxdynia.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar,

After going through your query I concluded that your husband may be suffering from coccyxdynia.

Treatment of it is:-

1.Hot sits bath.In this it is advised to sit naked in a tub full of warm (not hot) water for nearly 15minutes in morning and 15minutes in evening.

2.Use soft seats to sit. Avoid long sitting. Avoid sitting on hard objects.

3.Analgesic such as ibuprofen is helpful in pain relief.

4.Mecobalamine reduce tingling sensation.

I can better help you if you upload MRI report.

Urinary frequency and urgency is unlikely to be related to it. Its cause can be prostate enlargement or may be due to anxiety.

Matter does not seems urgent to me.

You can discuss to your Doctor about it.

Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Wishing you good health.
Take care.
