Suggest Treatment For A Swelling On The Thigh Post An Injury

As detailed below, please give feedback and follow-up
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thank for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/63 - not visited a Doctor - kicked by horse in the thigh about two hours ago - swollen - not black and blue - icing - wants to know if anything else to be done...
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Continue Icing for 4 more hours.
Walking test/ please see if the movement of the hip and knee joints cause any pain or spasm of the muscles of the area involved.
Take Ibuprofen if it suits you at 8 hourly interval after food.
Rest to the part by resting in bed.
The more you move, the more inflammation will increase.
If the muscles ache with movements of the hip and/or knee joint, it is advisable to consult a Doctor for examination and get high resolution ultrasound to see for the extent of muscular damage. This is so as the kick of the horse is one of the strongest and the effects may be long lasting if the proper diagnosis and treatment/precautions are not taken.
I hope this answer helps you getting the correct extent of trauma, helps in proper diagnosis and treatment to have the curative treatment.
