Suggest Treatment For Ankle Swelling

Question: So i have an eight year old daughter that has a swelled area above the elbow about and inch and half in diameter warm to touch with a center that is overly sensitive , but no apparent signs of a sting or bitten area . School nurse said ice and ibuprofen . Any ideas?
