Suggest Treatment For Arthritis In Neck

Question: I have arthritis in my neck but I have a crackling sound many times when I am not even moving but always when I am moving is this the arthritis or could it be something else ? I am worried because I was a smoker

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Neck cracking sounds are a pretty common phenomena. It can have different sources. It can be related to arthritis in the neck due to the changes of the bones, discs and ligaments which increase friction between their surfaces and produce cracking sound generally on movement.
Another source are gas bubbles which form in the synovial fluid, the fluid filling the joint spaces, bubbles which when popping can produce the crackling sound, even at rest.
So you shouldn't worry too much, as you already are aware of having arthritis. I am not sure why the smoking history worries you, smoking is involved in many health issues, but I don't think it is related in this particular one.
