Important thing is to determine either its bowels obstruction or constipation. To do that simple x-ray of abdomen should be done.
If obstruction is complete, she should have surgery as soon as pissible. If the obstruction is only partial, she may have some diagnostics like colonoscopy or enteroclysis (abdominal ct with contrast). But also partial obstruction will need surgery sooner or later.
So if it is real obstruction, sending her home is a bad idea.
