Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation In Upper Stomach When Treating Colon Cancer

Question: Hi, I am a 55 year old female. I usually have a bm once a week and that is normal for me. Since I was about 14. Last week, I started having like 2 or 3 a day with cramps. And the top of my stomach would have a burning sensation after I ate, just the top half on the outside edges. The bowel movements have slowed down again, but Monday and today there is a lot, I mean a lot of mucus in the stool. I know some is normal but this amount worried me. My grandpa had colon cancer. 2 1/2 years ago, I had a tumor in my left breast that they thought was caused by stress and caffeine. I never had a biopsy. I have no significant weight loss at all. 5'4 and 175 lbs. Is this something to be stressing about, cancer?, ulcer? lots of stress in my life the last 4 years. Thank you for your time

Brief Answer:
Colitis. Colonoscopy may be done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
You are having symptoms of colitis. Stool analysis may be done for confirmation.
Since there is a family history of colon cancer and that you are above 50 years, I would advise you to get a colonoscopy to rule out malignancy as well ( a surveillance colonoscopy).

I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
