I have been fighting with post nasal drip causing a cough & sore throat. My left ear is stopped up. I am taking Flonase but the cough does not go away. At night I am sometimes hot. I don't have a fever. Sneezing some cough is breaking up a little. What should I do. Should I see my doctor.
Brief Answer:
May need a course of antibiotics
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the details,
It appears that you are down with sinus infection which is giving rise to the post nasal drip and the sore throat and cough.
You will do well with a course of antibiotics preferably of the penicillin group for 10 days. Please see an ENT specialist for the same.
You should also take decongestant nose drops like otrivin, it helps to ventilate your sinuses and helps with the infection.
Instill 3 drops of otrivin in each nostril 3 times a day and follow it up with steam inhalation for 6 days.
Drink plenty of warm fluids and avoid air conditioning and fan.
