Question: My son has had a red spot in the corner of his eye for almost a week. No discharge or pain. We thought he might have irritated it, but it's not getting better.

Brief Answer:
Pink eye

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I have gone through the medical history and the photo you provided for the red eye of your son.

I noted his conjunctiva that was inflamed (conjunctivitis or pinkeye). Most probable causes include as following:

If your son has gone through a viral infection/cold, that is causing conjunctivitis.

If no cold, then, irritation from foreign bodies is suspected (dust or keep scratching/touching with dirty hands).

Keeping good hygiene is very important. Prepare a mixture of baby shampoo (1 part) with warm water (5parts). Wash his eyes. Rinse well with water then rinse again with chamomile tea.

At the end, soak cotton bud in chamomile tea and swipe on his palpebrae.
Repeat thrice daily. If no improvement, should send him to eye specialist.

Advise not to touch with hand or scratching.

Hope it was of help.
