Suggest Treatment For Constipation Causing Hemorrhoids Along With Visceral Pain In An Elderly Man

Yesterday afternoon, minutes after a bowel movement, I sneezed & a 'lump' zoomed down my intestine & (really) slammed into the obstruction. This happened before on other occasions when I coughed but not with such force & certainly not with such pain. I had to lie down immediately & for the rest of the day. This morning, after my usual urgent bm, I saw blood, mucous & worm-like' strings' on the tissue paper. It appeared & smelled similar to my dog's little presents he left for me back when he had colitis.
I saw a Dr. about this back when it all started over a year ago. The appointment was in the morning & no lump had yet formed. I mentioned "volvulus" but, since I could pass gas, she dismissed it as a sprain or strained muscle. I argued that I've had both those injuries in the past and their symptoms didn't go away over night, then return each afternoon, but, as she pointed out, what does a layman know? I think it's just old sagging colon tissue that collapses under gravity when I stand. What do you think?
Supportive care
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. At age above 60 chances of getting constipation are 85 %. So almost constipation is inevitable in geriatric age. That lump like feeling is nothing but impacted stool. You need a good laxative, modified diet lifestyle and good bowel habits. The blood in stools was likely due to constipation irritating hemorrhoids. Exercise more as mobility increases colon mobility. COughing or straining increases intraabdominal pressure and that impacted stool colon may get prominent or give visceral pain which may get referred to abdominal wall. Nutshell, there is nothing you worry about and just needs supportive care for management of constipation.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
