Hello,
You have sprained your ankle and it is hurting you since 48 hours. It is now swollen but you are able to walk. You are suggested not to strain your
sprained ankle. Instead give it rest. You can apply ice from time to time for relief. To reduce inflammation and pain take
Combiflam or
Naproxen, one SOS when pain. Wrap an
elastic bandage around the sprained ankle but do not wrap it too tightly.
Keep it at rest for 15 days, avoid putting pressure on it while walking., take the help of a walking stick or walker. Keep your sprained ankle elevated on a pillow to reduce swelling especially at night. Gravity helps reduce swelling by draining excess fluid. During day keep it elevated on a stool. However, you should get clinically examined by an orthopedist.
Get X-ray done to rule out any
fracture. In the case of severe sprain, a cast or walking boot may be required to immobilize the ankle while it heals. CT and MRI are required only in case of severe
injury and pain. Sometimes, surgery or
physical therapy is also recommended.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
