Suggest Treatment For Constipation Due To Extra Long Colon
Question: I need to finish the query. A colonoscopy about 16 months ago revealed NO CANCER at all but the fact that my large intestine is extra long. No remedy was given for the abnormal bowel habits. I cannot seem to produce much relief without a dose of Bisacodyl (2 tablets on consecutive nights) and about 5 to 6 days apart. I do take 1/2 tablet of Sennosides (25mg) daily to keep from getting "plugged up".
Brief Answer:
you will need to take laxative on a regular basis
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX
Thanks for contacting HealthcareMagic.
Extralong colon does produce constipation and there is no permanent relief from this. As you have told that colonoscopy has already been done and a cancer has been ruled out.
You will have to take some kind of a laxative on a regular basis to give you relief from constipation. There are many kinds of laxative available including the kinds you are taking. There are others as well which your physician can prescribe if you do not get relief with the ones you are taking now.
Best wishes.
