Question: Hi dr. I am 36 weeks 3 days pregnant. I am experiencing loose bowels since morning. They are not very frequent like in diarrhoea, but they are quite loose. I had not eaten anything from outside. Please suggest what to do?

Brief Answer:
Take sporolac tablets

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
It is common to have loose bowel near term and at times it leads to labour pains also so in case loose motions stay even after taking medicine then visit your gynecologist for examination.
For the time being take tablet sporolac three times a day and see the response till tomorrow afternoon.
Though usually patients respond to first dose itself.
Take a lot of curd and buttermilk and avoid milk.
Wish you speedy recovery

Hi dr. My diarrhoea is somewhat subsided but my stomach is still upset. I want to know is this a sign of labour? Or any idea how soon my labour will start? I am also sometimes facing abdominal cramps like periods.

Thanks dr. I went to my gynae yesterday and she did my internal examination and said that it was not labour. Also she said my cervix is closed and not soft yet. She did membrane sweep. Will that help bring my labour? What else can I do for labour to begin on its own, as she said that we won't wait beyond 38 weeks, due to diabetes.

Brief Answer:
She did the right thing

Detailed Answer:
Yes dear, she is absolutely right.
And good she did sweeping of membranes which will help in bringing labor pains on its own.
You need to take walk if at least 30-40 mins daily which will help in gravitational assistance in bringing down the head and thus labor pains.
Take good care of fetal movements and of course sugar levels.
All the very best
