Question: Is it just getting virus.one of the clinicians i work with just got over nasty upper respirtory virus. Said she felt like golf balls in throat. I smoke. So worried about cancer. I am a child mental XXXXXXX clinician so exposed to everything

If Inexium and likes have not done marvels, then it would be wise to get a full evaluation to see if surgery is needed at this time.
Cancer always remains a worry but none of your symptoms is so so suggestive at this time. Symptoms of weight loss, night fevers, difficulties breathing, etc. are absent.
In all, symptoms suggestive of GERD. I recommend full evaluation by a gastroeneterologist. If medical treatment is unable t control symptoms, surgical options should be considered.
