Suggest Treatment For Dry Irritating Cough

Question: i am a healthy 57 year old woman normally, working as an RGN in the community. i had my tonsillectomy 20 yrs ago, i immediately developed hay fever which is from mar to may season. i use over the counter meds which help with sneezing sore eyes etc but not cough ( I dont take continiously because they make me less alert and tired)I was diagnosed with bronchiactatis 3 yrs ago and my problem is dry irritating cough(no cought when well) i have antibiotics at home to start when needed, i started Co Amixoclav 500 tds yesterday which is helping the cough. i dont like to take these unless really necessary (dont think i have infection) is there a anti histamine thats better for treatment of the cough in hay fever. would steroid inj be useful but may not be advised with my lung problem, thank you I would value your opinion XXXXXXX

2. You can continue co-amoxiclav (500mg + 125mg) thrice daily in case of wet cough.

4. steroid injection is indicated in breathlessness with wheeze.

Thank you I don't experience a chronic cough post bronchiactis
I only get cough in hay fever season or a rare chest infection

Will ask GP to prescribe what you suggested

My diagnosis was thought to be associated with ? Lupus but that has not confirmed.. Test done at St XXXXXXX XXXXX.
