Hi,

Pressing on tonsils in tonsillitis case can spread the infection locally as well as to the blood stream and can cause severe bacteremia or septicemia. Hence it is advised not to press on tonsil at all. Another reason is that tonsil has lots of blood supply and if there is rupture or so then it is most difficult to control the bleeding which may need emergency surgery. Take a proper cause of an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medicines under the prescription of your Doctor or an ENT Surgeon after proper clinical evaluation, examination and investigations.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
