Suggest Treatment For Dysentry During Pregnancy
Question: Hi, my wife is 6 months pregnant, she is having dysentry...does this effect the child??
Brief Answer:
continue treatment and maintain hydration
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
In dysentery, antibiotics and adequate hydration is required.
You should continue medications as advised.
Take plenty of fluids and salt.
The bad effect on child occurs only during dehydration, so prevent the same.
Upload stool examination report too.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Thanks for quick reply ! For Dysentry, my wife is taking Metrogyl 400 and VBACT -DS from friday. She has already taken 4 dose of Metrogyl in gap of 8 hours and 2 dose of VBACT -DS but she is still going to toilet frequently ( in gap of 1 hour) and defacating only mucus. Please let us know how many more dose are required to get some relief i.e. to stop going to toilet frequently.
Note: She is not dehydrated and she is taking adequate fluids.

Brief Answer:
continue treatment, wait for a day more for response
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
It may take 24-48 hours for response in such diarrhoea.
If no blood in stool, then possibility of diarrhoea rather than dysentery.
Continue treatment as prescribed.
