Suggest Treatment For Elevated BP And Hot Flashes

XXXX
I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome on HCM!
I passed carefully through your medical history and would explain that hot flushes may be related in part with Amlodipine use. In fact flushes seem to be an adverse effects in around 07-3% of patients on Amlodipine therapy.
If such clinical symptomatology appears persistent, frequent and disturbing, then you should discuss with your prescribing doctor on the possibility of switching to a safer anti-hypertensive drug.
Regarding the irregular heart beats and rhythm, I recommend consulting with your doctor (internist or cardiologist) for a careful physical exam and some additional tests which are necessary for arriving to the exact diagnosis:
- resting ECG,
- complete blood count,
- thyroid hormones levels,
- blood electrolytes level,
- fasting blood glucose level,
- cardiac ultrasound,
- liver and renal function tests
In case the arrhythmic events are rare, an ambulatory 24 to 48 hours ECG monitoring could be helpful in revealing the responsible abnormal rhythm.
You need to discuss with your doctor on the above mentioned issues.
Hope to have been helpful to you!
In case of any further uncertainties, feel free to ask me again.
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri

Will make an appointment with my GP next week, as it it really getting on my nerves and I keep checking my pulse and getting further worked up...

My opinion as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Discussing with your GP would be a rationale strategy for performing the above mentioned medical tests and if necessary additional tests (24 hour ECG monitoring [Holter]).
You have to relax and don't worry too much, as once carefully reviewed and a proper therapy applied, the current complaints will not be a such a concern.
I remain at your disposal for reviewing your tests results when available and giving a second professional opinion.
Regards,
Dr. Iliri
