Question: what is normal blood count mine is 6.1

Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Please upload the report

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query. However, I find your query to be incomplete and would be glad if you provide more details. There are different types of blood cells viz. RBCs, WBCs and platelets and the counts for each of them are different. If you could upload the report I could say whether it is normal. A mere mention of 6.1 does not convey anything.

I will wait for you to upload the report. Let me know if I could help further.

Brief Answer:
Further details needed.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the clarification. The mentioned WBC count is normal.
Regarding the thyroglobulin level I would need to know why it was ordered. I also need to know the complaints that made you seek the assistance of a doctor. I ask this because the test is not regularly ordered for. People who have a goiter, thyroiditis, or hyperthyroidism may have elevated thyroglobulin levels. Thyroglobulin can sometimes be used as a tumor marker.

The glucose level is reasonably ok.

I would wait for you to provide the requested details.

I am being treated for vitiligo so she said it could be a auto immune thing going on I am using the cream provided and pigmentation is coming back

The only things that came back high were thygloubin antibodies glucose and a source monocytes

Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (12 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
No need to get concerned.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your clarification. The monocytes are connected to the immune reaction but the association is only indirect. Often one autoimmune ailment is associated with another and although your thyroid levels are fine now, it is possible that you have some thyroiditis which would manifest subsequently. That could be the reason that your thyroglubinin antibodies are raised. I would insist you to follow up with the TSH levels every 6 months or 1 year. Otherwise there is no need to get concerned.

Having these high thygloubin antibodies dangerous
doctor
Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (53 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Regular medication should keep the situation in check.

Detailed Answer:
The answer would vary depending on what you mean by dangerous. If you mean life threatening, no it is not. If you mean not good/great, yes it is not something good or great. However, if you develop hypothyroidism as a sequel of thyroiditis (for which the thyroglobulin antibodies could have been raised), it can be kept easily in control by regular intake of proper dose of thyroxine. In a nutshell, it is not dangerous but it is not something great either.

Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (4 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Explanation provided.

Detailed Answer:
Thyroiditis is a primary cause of hypothyroidism. You might not have any symptoms at the moment. Subsequently you might go into hyperthyroidism as the gland gets leaky and then hypothyroidism after the stored have all been depleted (leaked out). Ultimately you might need to be treated for hypothyroidism.

Hashimoto thyroiditis is an autoimmune entity and so is vitiligo. Association between autoimmune diseases is commonly observed.

Ok so are you saying I am going to be very ill then ?? I have never heard of any of these
doctor
Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
No

Detailed Answer:
No, you might not get ill at all. It is just that you might subsequently need thyroxine supplementation. Thats it.

I would not expect you to be familiar with medical intricacies and to know how things work.

Brief Answer:
Please do not panic unneccessarily

I would insist you not to panic. Just leave the medical thinking for the doctors. Just periodically get your thyroid levels checked. Your thyroid levels are fine at the moment. Let us not speculate further. Time will show where things are headed.

So with my b 12 being low can this cause high thyrogloubin results and how to I get my b 12 higher
doctor
Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (34 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
No association between the two

Detailed Answer:
No, your B12 levels have nothing to do with your thyroglobulin levels. You can take Methylcobalamine supplement 1500 mcg once daily for a few weeks to raise the vitamin B12 levels.

Brief Answer:
A thyroid ultrasound can be done

Detailed Answer:
If you check my second communication in the thread you will see that I have already mentioned that it can be used as a tumor marker.

However, thyroglobulin or thyroglobulin antibodies can be raised due to a number of reasons. If apprehensive you can simply get an ultrasound of your thyroid done and that should relieve you of your concerns.
