Suggest Treatment For Fibromyalgia

Consultation
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. Pain in both legs and hips, chronic fatigue could be due to
: Fibromyalgia - But it's already ruled out by doctor.
: Vitamin D3 deficiency - It is required for bone, joints, muscles. Deficiency is very common. Its deficiency can cause pain, fatigue, osteoporosis and fracture of bones.
Consult your local physician and get its levels checked. If it is low, it is replaced as 60,000 IU dose once a week for 3 months in an adult patient.
: Bone disease - Bone disease like osteoporosis/osteomalacia can cause such pain and fatigue. It is due to age, low calcium, low protein and vitamin D.
Confirmation is by checking level of calcium, Bone Densiometery, X ray of hip joints.
It is treated by vitamin D and calcium supplements. Sometime, calcitonin is also given. It is a curable disease.
: Proximal myopathy - It can occur due to various reasons like hypothyroid in your case. You can suspect it if weakness in thigh muscles, tone and bulk decreased.
For confirmation, you can consult endocrinologist and neurologist. EMG (electromyography) and muscle biopsy can rule it out. Treatment is control of hyperthyroid and gradual strengthening exercise of muscles.
: Neurological disease like spinal cord compression due to lesion (disc, mass lesion) or myelitis - It can be suspected after examining your limbs for sensation, power, tone and all reflexes. If there is any deficit, MRI of spinal cord should be done accordingly.
Prolapsed disc or some mass lesion in lumbar or thoracic region can cause such symptoms. You can consult doctor for it. The MRI will also tell any changes in spinal cord like myelitis/multiple sclerosis. Further treatment is surgical decompression in case of disc or mass and medication if myelitis/multiple sclerosis.
: Multivitamin deficiency - It is usually due to Vitamin B12, folic acid, Vitamin E deficiency which can cause discomfort in lower limbs along with fatigue syndrome.
It can be suspected further if you have anaemia, neuropathy, spinal cord changes.
Confirmation is by checking level of Vitamin B 12, folic acid. Treatment is simple replacement of B12, folic acid and vitamin E.
You can get investigated for above to confirm the cause. Actually it is very common complaint in more than 60 years age group. It is a treatable condition if actual cause is found.
Do let me know about investigation reports, I will be happy to help you.
Thanks. Take care.
