Suggest Treatment For Fluid In Right Fallopian Tube With History Of Hysterectomy

Question: I am 56 years old. When I was in my 20s I had PID caused by an IUD. This caused a chronic problem with adhesions. I had surgery to remove a large cluster behind the uterus. Luckily I was able to conceive. and we have 2 lovely grown up children. In 1996 I had a hysterrectomy, the uterus was removed but both ovaries and fallopian tubes were left in tact. Yesterday I had a pelvic ultrasound which showed fluid in the right fallopian tube. I will be seeing my GP about this on Monday. I have been in menopause for 14 years with at times severe hot flushes. Can you please give me some advice about this. I have already consulted another OB/GYN and he suggested removal of the fallopian tube to reduce the risk of cancer.

Brief Answer:
Dont Worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) The collection of fluid does not indicate cancer. It normally happens in the cut fallopian tubes.

2) Hence it is not cancer and no reason to remove it.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Dr. Mahesh Koregol
