Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Dr . Purushottm Neurgaonkar welcomes you to HCM VIRTUAL CLINIC. I have gone through your question, and I think I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.
1 ) First of all do not panic.
2 ) As you might be aware that now a days, our current urban lifestyle is a major risk factor for various chronic degenerative diseases.
Gestational diabetes is one of them.
3 ) To diagnose and manage various complications of gestational diabetes, various screening tests are advised.
One of them is to take 75 gram glucose and measure blood sugar levels 2 hours after. Results above 140 need further management.
4 ) This can be the reason why her doctor has rightly advised her glucose tolerance test. In her case 1 hour and 2 hour values are on higher side.
I will suggest to get her blood checked for glycosylated hemoglobin. Values above 6 , indicate higher blood sugar levels over last 90 days.
5 ) it is good to note that she doesn't have any past history or family history of diabetes.
I would like to know about her eating pattern and Food habits.
It will be better to have a healthy diet plan .
She can repeat blood sugar levels fasting , and post meals after a week.
It is important to have good sugar control to avoid various complications during pregnancy and delivery and in a newborn child.
Please do not worry. All things will be fine in the due course of time.
I hope this answer helps you. Feel free to ask further
