Suggest Treatment For Growing Cyst In Ovary And High Estrogen Levels

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: A 5 centimetre cyst grew in my left ovary in the last few months, I wasn't aware of it until I had a scan. I had a scan because I started bleeding non stop with little clots, I also felt nauseaous and lightheaded.

My blood pressure which is normally low was higher than usual .

They also found my estrogen level to be higher and progesterone low.

I get sudden heart palpitations during the day with the feeling of unwellness but they come in waves then go

They have put me on privolot tablets for 5 days until the bleeding stops and then they will do a pap smear, they won't do it while it is bleeding. The blood relsults and scan were all good except for the hormones.

I have just turned 50 never had any other problems and I have been having normal periods until th elast two months.

What do I do ? I hat efeeling so unwell all the time!

Brief Answer:
A 5cm cysts needs further evaluation!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about what you have reported. This is truly disturbing and I understand your worries. However, we would be able to look at this and find answers and a solution to address this fully.

I know you are concerned about cancer. This is unlikely to be cancer related. This is more related to hormonal imbalance and uterine overgrowth than a cancer. A pap smear is unlikely to show a cancer. No cancer of the cervix would present out of no where with severe bleeding.

In all, stay calm. Follow up with investigations and all would be okay. You should not get too worried as this would be fully mapped out and addressed fully.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Thank you, I do feel a lot better hearing that, I've never had sudden heart palpitations like that, but the cardiologist told me my heart was fine, so you re right.

What can I do once the pivolut tablets are finished, I hate having higher blood pressure, will my cyst disappear?

Thanks again, I feel I can sleep,

Brief Answer:
Do nothing when the pivot gets finished!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this follow up.

When the pivot finishes, stop and monitor. I also believe your bleeding would cease and you would be able to get the pap smear as well. For the cyst, monitoring is the way to go. Most disappear and some don't. However, only time would make that difference.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Let me know if there is anything more i can do for you at this time.

Cheers!
