Suggest Treatment For Growing Rash On Chin Along With Anxiety
I went to the physio earlier today and spent a longer amount of time than normal in the bed having my chin forced into it/pressed against a towel etc. 8 or so hours later I noticed some marks on my chin that looked like broken capillaries or something- like a love bite but without the surrounding bruising.
However, when I pressed on them they didn't fade at all, so I began to worry that it was a serious illness associated with a rash that doesn't fade.
Because of my anxiety I have been checking my body regularly for the rash to see if it's been spreading. I noticed on my arms some very tiny (almost microscopic, but varying in size slightly) spots. They are bright, fire truck red and, like I said, absolutely tiny. The largest one is perhaps the size of the head of a pin. However, I am unsure as to whether or not they were there before or they've come about since the marks on my chin. Unlike the marks on my chin, almost all of them fade when pressed down or when I drag the skin. They are flat and look as if they're just on the top layer, but I can't exactly tell. Some of the slightly larger ones look like thread, with a bright red for and a pinkish tail. I squeezed the largest one and it sort of popped though, it seemed slightly raised like a blister. The mark still remains, though.
I feel as if these marks may be spreading, which is why I'm contacting you (when I last counted there were 5 on my left arm, 8 on my right and 2 on my chest). It's currently early in the morning where I am and I'd rather go to sleep than stay up all night fretting or go to the hospital, but I thought I should make sure.
Other than these mysterious marks, I feel absolutely fine if a little tired because I didn't sleep much last night. However, as you can probably tell I am very anxious- can anxiety cause such marks to appear? Sorry for my long-winded question and thank you for your help.
No ma'am, the rash cannot be anxiety related
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome.
Thank you so much for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Health-related anxiety is normal, but it is not healthy to ponder over it for too long.
In my opinion, seeing many patients come if for physiotherapy I have seen some of them return with a rash and so I would not blame you for anything. And more importantly, your rash had a sudden appearance and mostly after the physiotherapy. So if at all it were related to any underlying condition, then it should last or recur.
I would thus advise you to take the wait and watch approach. It at all this particular rash around your chin region lasts for long, or if any such rashes recur over time then you may require the following investigations:
+Blood coagulation profile
+Comprehensive blood panel
+ESR
+CRP
+RA factor
+Blood glucose profile
+Physical examination
But in the meantime, answering your question, anxiety cannot cause a rash as described by you sir/ma'am. Please get some rest, and watch over your rash. I would also like to put forward a request, asking you to please attach clear images of the affected regions (everywhere the rash is present) for my viewing, just to make sure if I can figure out the cause. But if at all you are not comfortable with this, then you can refuse.
I wish you some rest and would like you to know that in my opinion your presentation is nothing serious and should not have any cause for concern. Please feel free to write to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.
Best wishes.
I have had my bloodwork done quite recently and I was shown to be deficient in vitamin D and iron but everything else was normal.
Thanks
Seems perfectly normal ma'am, nothing to worry at all
Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.
The spot seems perfectly normal and unassociated with any specific conditions suspected.
If at all these spots seem to be fading away or subsiding themselves, this means they are self-limiting and thus not a cause for concern.
An adding factor being your recent normal blood work, which also supports the diagnosis of these most probably being weather related, hydration, simple reaction to clothes, friction from clothes, perspiration, hormonal effect, etc.
I do not see any cause for concern and would like you to know that you should put your anxiety to rest and enjoy life to the fullest. You seem perfectly healthy and I hope and pray you always are.
If at all there is anything troubling you, then please do not hesitate to write to me in the future (although I hope you always enjoy good health and do not ever require my services). Wishing you good health, lots of wealth and happiness forever.
Best wishes,
Dr. Shoaib Khan.
The rash on my chin has faded, but the bright red ones on my arms seem to be growing in number. They still look like little red splinters under the skin and are mostly very very small. As I said, I recently had my bloodwork done, which included ED-Haemotology results which were normal.
Therefore, could this be caused by something to do with my blood? Is it something I should have examined by a doctor in person?
Thank you again for answering my questions.
I would warrant a physical examination by a doctor
Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.
A physical examination by a doctor would certainly help and I am completely for the idea. But it having to do with blood is certainly a possibility (requiring a check on blood coagulation profile), but other conditions can also manifest such a presentation like liver abnormalities, dermatological conditions, systemic conditions, infections, etc.
So in my opinion the best person to visit would be a physician who would be able to guide you towards a specialist from the field pertaining to the abnormality (if at all one is found).
But please also note that there also exists a possibility of the red spots being age-related, due to climate, etc; this makes it important for you to stay calm and schedule an appointment with your doctor for a physical evaluation.
Best wishes.
