Question: I had my last child March 22nd 2013. Since then I have been having extremely heavy periods. It's so bad now that during my 7 days 2 days I am using a super plus tampon every 5 to 10 minutes. I also have large clots that I pass some larger then a 1/2 dollar. is this normal?

Brief Answer:
It is not normal, please have an evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The bleeding pattern that you describe is not normal.
Normal periods should not have such heavy bleeding.
You are likely to have some pathology - in the form of a fibroid, endometrial hyperplasia ( thickening of the lining of the uterus ), cyst , polyp etc.
Please consult an OB - GYN at the earliest.
Please have an internal evaluation, Pap smear, pelvic ultrasound scan done.
That will reveal what is wrong.
Do not wait more, as you can get severely anemic.
All the best.
PLease feel free to discuss further.
