Suggest Treatment For Hematoma On The Calf Of The Leg
Question: I have a hematoma on the calf of my left leg. This is the second one I have had since I had laser surgery on varicose veins. These hematomas have been on either leg. Is there any medication for them. They are painful.
Brief Answer:
Anti inflammatory medicines will help.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Haematoma is collection of blood. Small hematomas will liquify and resolve spontaneously. Large haematomas also gets liquified, but it has to be drained.
Ultrasound of the affected leg will give the nature of hematoma specifically. If the collection is big, it can be evacuated by a single incision.
As such, there are no medicines for hematoma. If it is painful, I'd advice anti inflammatory tablets (eg. Ibuprofen, paracetamol etc.) to my patients.
Please consult your doctor and proceed further.
Fell free to ask further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
