Hiatal hernia usually remains asymtomatic and does not require any treatment. The only definitive treatment for hiatal hernia is surgery.

Sometimes hiatal hernia may cause reflux symptoms. In these circumstances medications like Nexium would provide relief and there is no need to go for surgery.
